Q&A
If you've never worked with a presentation designer or illustrator you may have a lot of questions. Below you will find answers to the most common questions I receive. Please contact me via my contact page if you don't see the answer to your question.
How long does a typical presentation design project take? Production time varies greatly depending on the number of slides in your deck and the extent of your content. On average a 30 slide deck can usually be completed within 7 days.
Can you work within my company brand? Yes. I can work from your company's style guide, or if you don't have one, I can gather information from your website. You can also share all your branding specifics with me during our initial meeting, such as fonts styles and theme colors.
Do you provide stock photos if I need them? If stock photos are needed, I can provide those for an additional fee which will also include my search time if applicable. I supply stock photos after you've approved them, unless you agree "without approval" prior to production. If you're already a stock photo subscriber you can share scene shots with me before you purchase. We can then collaborate to ensure the photo fits the layout theme. You may also need to pay the stock photo company a licensing fee.
What is your payment procedure? Payments are made via my website or PayPal. I invoice monthly. After I've created 7 slides, or provided a rough illustration, and you've given your approval to proceed, I request a 20 % deposit to complete project.
Can I edit your completed deck? Yes, I build all decks with master slides that have fully editable text and photos.
If I or my employee corrupt a deck, can you fix it? In most cases, I can repair a seemingly corrupted file. I charge an hourly rate to repair a deck. If the file is corrupted outside the PowerPoint system, I cannot repair it and recommend that you contact your system tech support.
What is the communication procedure while you work on my project? Most of our communication will be done via phone and/or email. When we near the final stages and files are larger, I will send files via Drop Box. I usually try to return calls within 24 hours.
What if I'm not loving your final product? Prior to production, we will have a conversation to determine your creative direction and your specific needs. I will create several slides based on our initial meeting. You will review those initial slides, then you can determine if I'm on the right track. If you are not satisfied I will not charge you.
If instead you're loving what you see, with your approval I will start production immediately. I charge per slide. Please keep in mind that extended revisions (more than 3 minor slide revisions) are based on an hourly rate which could potentially increase your deck estimate.
Do you do rush jobs? Yes, mini projects only. (Less than 10 slides.) Rush jobs are also dependent upon my availability, the level of details on each slide, and how quickly you need it. Turnaround orders can be completed quickly, within 24 hours for mini projects. There is no additional "rush" fee.
Do I need a sketch for you to create a digital illustration? It helps if you have a rough sketch or a reference image for me to work from. If you don't have that, I can create a rough sketch based on your description, and instruction. Once you approve, I provide a refined digital illustration. I will provide up to 3 minor revisions at no charge on completed digital illustrations. I charge additional fees for extended revisions.
